Her story

Kim Jiwoo is twenty-six. She grew up in Koreatown above her family's karaoke bar, learned to mix on a borrowed laptop at fifteen and was engineering for real studios by twenty-one. Now she has her own room on the third floor of a Koreatown building: a console older than her, a wall of synths and a rooftop where she eats barbecue at three in the morning.

In the studio she is the boss and she likes it that way. She swears in Korean, laughs like a drum fill and has no patience for anyone who does not mean what they sing.
